Default PCT(CTR) pistons & CTR cams in LS/Vtec?

Would there be enough room between the valves & piston? I read on H-T a while back that there it not enough room so piston slap occurs, it that true?

And also, what is a good valve train upgrad on a B16A2 head to support the CTR cams?

there WILL be enough valve to piston clearance. the ctr pistons were made for high lift vtec cams so there should be no problem. maybe your thinking of ctr cams and stock LS pistons. now if you mill the head and get a thinner head gasket, then you may have problems. but why would you want to do that, with the ctr pistons your CR will be like 12:1 give or take a few.

for the valve train upgrade, get duel springs and titanium retainers. or get it of the type-r.

What exactly are differences between the ITR and CTR cams? How much duation and lift to the 2 have? How high will they make power to?

Oh, will the ITR outer springs, with portflow inner springs and titanium retainers be suffeceint for the CTR cams?

And what about bronze valve guides, are they worth haveing?

we have the exact same setup on a motor we just built for a customer. LS VTEC with CTR pistons with a GSR head, unmilled, with CTR cams.
runs perfect! You shouldnt have any problems

Is that with stock rods? If so, what did you have done to the rods to prepair them for the high revs? Shot-peening? ARP rod bolts?

Did you dyno it? How much power is it making?

What are you running for a ECU?

Do you know what the CR came out to be with the b18c1 head? Im going to be using the b16a2 head, and CTR .25 over pistons so the CR will be right at 12.0:1, to be exact 12.028963626657404:1

CTR pistons.. still using shot peened stock rods with ARP bolts.
ECU is a P28 chipped
Im assuming 12:1 compression with the GSR head.
Haven’t seen dyno results yet on this particular one but it did hit a 13.4 at the track untuned. It was put in an 89 Si.

Ive seen similar setups dyno at around 195HP to the wheels. But I guess can range from 185-200. depending on the ECU used and if dynoed, and if using a V-AFC for tuning.

hey wil, i am building an ls/vtec and i want to change the valvesprings... i was thinking comp cams, just cause i can get a good deal on them, or if there cheaper i was thinking usdm type r ones. the cams are presently stock, but if i find a set of itr/ctr ones i want to stick those in. would these springs be sufficient? also when i was checking out your site you have a 89si w/a ls/vtec... he runs 13.4's? what is the setup on that car if you don't mind me asking. i have a 90 and i'm curious as to what kind of times my combo could accomplish. thanks, props on the sohc project, i plan to do that with my si motor
