Default need some help replaceing my throw out bearing, not a noob, its ****** stuck

like the title says, im no noob to this, i've done a few honda clutch jobs and changed the TO bearings in them while i was at it.. but mine i cant get out.. the shaft the clutch arm is on doesnt want to come out of the transmission, the only thing i can think of is the tranny is still in the car

i really dont want to pull the tranny so if anyone knows of a way that will get it out without pullin the tranny i'd appriate it alot

its a D16Z6 swap into an EF hatch, the motor is out of the car sitting in my garage ready to be put back in and i wanna change this before im ready to reinstall

any opinions are welcome

anyone who says pull the tranny for no other reason then its easier to work on, i dont care, unless it absolutely cant be helped, the tranny is staying in the car

do you mean it is still connected? if so there is a bolt holding the clutch cable fork in there. i dont know how you would change it out without oulling the tranny.

this is how it sits right now, there isnt any bolts holding the shaft im talking about in place except one inside the tranny right under the throw out bearing

the cable arm just doesnt want to come out so i can take the throw out bearing out

dont need to pull the arm. take a 90 degree pick, and release the spring on the right and left of the throwout bearing, then it will come right out.

You don't have to take the shaft out. I have changed the throw-out bearings both ways. Just pry the spring loose with a small tool and reassemble that way again.

Can't you just move the shaft so the throw out bearing moves out, then replace it?

the TO bearing is held onto the tranny shaft by a wire/spring that goes around the arm shaft, so no

but i wasnt sure if the wire had hooks that go into the sides of the TO bearing or not so i didnt try to just unhook it, i wanted to take that shaft out but since i cant i'll go up in a bit and unhook it and see how it goes

You have no motor in there, why are you scared to drop the trans, it's like 5 minutes of work... Less time than it took to post this here.

im not scared to drop it, i fractured something in or just below my shoulder and i dont have a cherry picker, come-along, or tranny jack to pull or drop it with

so i'd really prefer not to drop it as i'd majorly expletive up my arm, get my wife pissed at me, which would in turn make it harder for me to get ***** which is something i dont want

so unless your prepared to get me *****, the tranny stays where it is

how do you plan on putting the motor back in if you have a screwed arm and no tools to lift it with? and did you get it changed yet?

im bribeing some buddys with beer and pizza to lift it for me, after that im putting it together

hopefully someone will bring a cherry picker or something.. if nothing else i'll go buy a come along and attatch it to the ceiling of my garage over my car

well i didnt notice that theres a diffrence in the TO bearings, i'd need to modify the TO bearing that got sent with the kit to make it work... so i think im just gonna reuse the old one
