trailer tie downs?
how do you guys tie your honda/import cars down to trailers
i dont like tying to front suspension and then to back and pulling the other way...thats how weve been doing it on domestics for a long time...
but with $thousands of dollars in suspension and alignment it scares me....nor do i like tying to the body of the car because of suspension compression....my dad and bro-in-law lost a 55 chevy truck body like that....what about tire tie downs? and pics appreciated

The car does come stock with places to tie the vehicle down they are on the chassis itself.
Then some racers install their own tie down hooks for convenience and added towing safety.

truck... bucked around sub frame...hit bump suspension compresses...buck came undone and bridge wall saved truck..thats why i dont like to go around subframes or points on the sprung chassis even if suspension compression is minimal it can still happen....
The car has the ability to move more when anchoring to unsprung bits. I've been towing for a while with both a open and enclosed trailer and I've done it both ways. Using the factory front tow loops and the rear tow holes in the chassis (behind the doors) with "J" hooks is the best way, IMO.

only lost one truck and all we needed was a couple parts from it...i still aint feeling pulling the body down... i dunno...maybe im just paranoid but it doesnt feel right and all our cars have 10k to 12k springs in the front and minimal suspension travel

have never tied down a car but i remember redline covering this on speed channel with gforce
gforce basically said that you should allow the suspension to move if possible or **** will break. They basically wrapped theirs around the wheels.
just adding what i watched..no experience

note that "mr. koni" says to tie-down the car to minimize suspension damage.

Your trailer should have springs that should take some of the road abuse, and keep your car from getting hammered on.
I wouldn't want my car loading and unloading itself on the trailer. To me it makes me think that the car would become a 2000lb bobble head, that was top heavy.

On the rear I use one strap on each side that goes through the rim and back to a tie down directlly in the floor each end has a 2 solid hoop which then connects to the floor with a D ring. The straps were excess material cut from the front ratchet straps available at Home Depot, heavy duty 3" yellow?. You hook up back then ratchet vehicle forward with the front straps hooked up to factory tow hooks.
I wrap the tiedowns around the tires. Also crisscross the tie downs and I have not had any problems. We are carrying 3 cars at a time and one is on a lift in an upper level of the trailer.
