Default top end loss

i've got a 5th gen , with a uk spec H22A5, i've got CAI & exhaust but the car wont pull past an indicated 132mph, it pulls nice up to bou 105-110 then its like pullingteeth, vtec is switching over fine but it is just so slugginsh above 100. please dont turn this into a "doing over 100 is crazy, i hope you die" threads, this is on a track. i've searched and cant find anything other than possible 02 sensor or ignition problem, any suggestions

basically when i get to 100 it feels like i'm driving a 1.8 non vtec engine which sucks cos i'm paying 2.2vtec insurance

the cat is lying in my garage, straight pipe in its place, i think i might be running rich cos my exhaust is black and sooty and it stinks of petrol, i also get hesitation at bout 2500rpm in a higher gear and vtec seems to come in now at bout 5500rpm instead of when it used to at 5200, especially in 4th and 5th gear. But seriously at 100 it's like i'd be faster getting out and pushing it, i'm thinking distributor maybe?

It always ends up being something simple, so IMO check the basics like fuel pressure (since you think you're running rich), cam timing and ignition timing, and maybe replace the cap and rotor.
