Intercooler becomes Air conditioning?
I am asking this for a friend not for myself so spare me your snooty remarks. My friend has a crx without ac and is wondering if he does a front mount intercooler and runs the piping to the vents will he have "air conditioning" or at least colder air than the air that would normally come thru the vents? Honestly I think its goofy but it kind of makes me wonder. Obviously only while he is moving will he get the cold air; should it work.

I seriously doubt it would have much effect..
Tell him to check into portable ac systems for cars..
I have seen one that uses a iglo cooler with ice with a fan
that would probably be more efficient..

Technically speaking, you can't cool it down below ambient temps. Thats assuming there is no moisture in the air, etc. The only good AC workaround for a car w/o AC...thats cheap...is the 2/50 method. 2 windows down, 50mph.
This is some dumb ****..
Hang some wet towels over the rolled down windows and go for a drive. You've just made your (friends
) car into a portable swamp cooler.
People should have to pass some kind of intelligence test to post on this forum.

There is only one way this would work. First of all, you need a compressor to connect to the intercooler. Perhaps a supercharger would work nicely. Or you could even use the output of a turbo. Then you need to connect a turbine to the other connector on the intercooler and set up some kind of load for it to power. Any load will do, even if it just wastes the output. Finally, route the output air from the turbine inside the car. The result is a Brayton cycle A/C. This setup is common in turbine-powered airplanes, where the compressed air is taken after the compressor stage on the engines. But it is not really used anywhere else. And I don't know how efficien or effective such a setup on a car could possibly be. But you would be better off just using the A/C system meant for the car.
