Default Megan Header Gasket Burnt?

I got the MR header and put it on and within a few days, I had an exhaust leak. I took the header off and noticed that the gasket where the header connects (making it a 2 piece header) had burnt in half. So I went to Auto Zone and got this crap that you squirt and spread between flanges to make a gasket, and it worked... for about 2 weeks. Now I'm have the leak again. I was curious if anyone knows of any brand of compound I could use to make a gasket since the MR gasket burnt... how did it even do that?

why can't you just buy a new oem exhaust manifold gasket?

doesn't that fit right in?

casue the gasket he is looking for does not exist in a stock header, the stock ehader uses a pair of large compression type o-rings that fit into a goove.

I be nice and tell you...."you get ehat you pay for".....get some gasket material and make your own...then spray it with that copper spray stuff you use on head gasket sealing and you should be fine....let's see how long it take for the good old Meagen welds to break..mine took 3 months

Just trying to be helpful, so sorry if this is stupid, but does the DC header come with the type of gasket he needs? If he could get one, would that work on the Megan?

Debating on going turbo or swapping in a h22 cause that would be a lot more reliable in the long run.. plus I could put a lightweight flywheel and LSD.. which sounds a lot better. But I got the header for real cheap so why not? They look so much better than stockers (aren't rusted over). And they have a very nice sound...except for the leak it has now.

But the answer to the question is I sent MR a e-mail and they said I could get 2 gaskets for $12 shipped. So I think I'm going to do that and just not worry about it.

Should I put both on at the same time or should I just keep one spare and put one on and if it does the same thing, put the other one.

Make sure you torque the bolts in the right pattern.

Oh ok, yeah if you want something reliable in the long run then yes go with the h22. But if you want somthing fast, go f22 turbo. I think that your soppost to put only one. But I think that you should put some of those "crap" that you "squrit" onto the new gasket as well. keep us updated on your plans for your car!

DC uses OEM style Ring gaskets. Megan does not.

okay get a long thick piece of vacume hose...put it to your ear..trace it over the header to see if there are any leaks..over the header studs..blah blah blah..easiest way to find a leak
