I have 6.5" Alpine Midbass speakers in the factory location and they have very beefy magnets. There is a lot of room, but if your speakers have big magnets you may have to use a spacer so your window will clear them.I used MDF and made spacers that fit the factory cut-outs. Just make sure you seal them with weatherstripping or rope caulk to keep the rear waves of the speaker from cancelling the front.(XTC acoustic baffles work good) You may have to trim the factory grill backs so they fit over the new speakers. If your speakers are small then you should have no problem.
If you have the factory speakers in there... 4" IIRC, you'll have to remove their plastic enclosure to fit a 6.5 in there. Make sure you install with the window fully down. Boston Pro 6.1s required a spacer to clear the window.

If you got an EX, you have 4" in the front inside a special enclosure. In that case you will need to remove that enclosure and buy or make some spacers (probably 3/4" to 1" will do depending on speaker).
If you got an LX or DX, you will have 6" speakers in which case you can mount a 6" or 5 1/4 to the stock mount, although you will have to cut the back out with a dremel to clear the magnet.
So far I haven't had any issues with the speaker not clearing the window on a 4th gen using the factory mount. In either case you'll want to get some foam baffles to keep the speaker from getting wet.
