Default Alpine components or speakers

hey, im thinking of putting some front speakers in my 5th gen, couldnt find any info on here but i want to put in either a pair of 6.5 type S or R speakers or components but ive also heard the depth and install into a 5th gen door might require some modding. anyone have experience on these in their 5th gens.

I know that infinity kappas fit perfect and are really good speakers.

I was able to put 6.5 boston pros in my doors. The depth is a pain so modding the door panel is unavoidable. Get some plastic adaptors that come with some speakers. You might be able to get some at Bestbuy or CC. The you need to cut the door panel to be able to mount the speakers.

I've installed Alpine R's into 4th & 5th gens.. absolutely great sounding speakers. As is the Infinity Kappa as one said above ^^

You will need a custom ring adapter to install the R's. I had one made at a local speaker installation place, and did the rest myself. The 5th gen has bit harder time installing those speakers than the 4th gen. But either way, have the adapter made and you should be good to go. It was like ten$ bucks a side or something. You will need to cut the plastic speaker cup completely out with a Dremel tool or something alike. Went with the R' coaxle in the Rear.

I would highly suggest DynoMat'n the Doors & under the carpet, when you take apart. Also, I would run those speakers on their own amp. Do NOT run those off of just the deck..

A perfect setup would be::: IMO of course:: alpine R 6.5 component 6x9 R coaxle 450.4 Rockford or JL Audio Amp + 10'' sub of your choice.

Those must be some deep-*** speakers. I installed some 180W Cerwin Vegas in my doors. All that was required was cutting out the back of the plastic cup, leaving the mounting ring intact.

thanks for all the input guys, i was afraid that i was gonna need to mod the door panels. also i was thinking of getting an amp, but im not too sure, i might just go with type s's so i dont necessarily need to run an amp. also looking into those infinitys. any more feedback greatly appreciated.

alpine remade the R's to fit a litttle better.. but the magnet it still huge on them. They will fit, but you will need a custom adapter & to cut the plastic out. If you go with the R's, don't skip out on the amp.. they need 100watts rms to run right.

If you go with the S's, you could run them off of an alpine v-drive cd player.. which puts out little more power than most. But IMO I would run the R's.. they [freak]ing scream.

I think you only have 2'' depth if you get an adaptor ring you can increase this also the stock grill comes into play. fitting the tweeter isnt too bad you will need to mod the metal that holds the tweeter in place also i would get some hot glue for extra holding power.

I just installed 6.5's Type R's in my 4th gen and I've also installed 6.5 type R's in a 5th gen and a 8th gen Civic. In all 3 cars I remade the speaker mount out of 1/8in MDF, then I used the spacer/adapter that came with the speakers. I have not had any issues with depth. For the 4th gen I first tried to cut the basket but the magnet on the type R was just to big and it was easier to make my own mount.

Nice thing about the new type R's is the tweeter can be removed from the dome cover to make a very shallow tweet. Should mount nicely into a 5th gens stock location with little modification.

if you have the alpine deck with vdrive you will have enough power for the type S. they are definitely good choice.. but I would highly recommend the R's & an amp. my stereo is immaculate with the R's installed pushing 500 watts\4

o definitely, i heard that the r's with an amp are sooo crisp and clean, but for my budget right now, i think ill go with the s, cuz the components are actually very affordable, unlike the r's which are way more and i need an amp on top of that.

the Alpine S's component are very good price.. and you don't need an amp. however, The R's aren't too much more. for 250$ you got some of the best speakers i've ever heard.. and i've owned both S's & R's. but if you don't have the funds for the Amp, I wouldn't go with the R's. I'm pushing 150watts rms x4 and i don't think I could distort them speakers if I tried. I wouldn't even run the S's withouut a small amp, unless you have the alpine deck with V-drive.

Either way, you will probably need a custom adapter ring made out of that Mdf board. I also put some dynomat on the inside of the door skins, and a thin layer of home insulation in the door panel for added insulation. Also, a foam baffle for your component speaker to help with bass & keep water out. And don't forget to run high grade speaker wire. keep a smaller wire, just make sure its high quality. Good luck bro.
