im affraid of buying a s2
I have a 240sx. mint, original paint, everything original. I take great care of the car, but lately I have been noticing small dents on the doors and scratches around the car. I was washing my car this weekend and noticed someone hit my car on the rear bumper wtf?? what does this have to do with a s2000? I plan on buying one towards the end of this year. if this would of happend to my s I would of flipped out. the s would be my dd and keeping the 240 is not an option. is there anything I can do to sort of prevent this? I know I cant control others around me but on the e46 they have this extra layer on the front and side mirrors to help prevent the paint from chipping. its like some sort of sticker color matched. does any company make this for the s? and does anyone have any other thoughts?
for one people are usualy more carefull around nicer cars, park at the end of the parking lot if its crowded, and the clear and color matched stickers are usualy a dealer option on cars such as mercedes/bmw to prevent wock chips and **** from daily driving, not door dings, but you could probably make your own clear plastic condom cover for your s
Just buy some orange cones if you are that worried about it. Even after you do everything in your power....some asshat will ding your door and laugh about it later.
It is always my luck that my car seems to work like a f*cking magnet at a grocery store. I routinely park far away....and of course, when I come out my car has been surrounded like a petifile in prison.

The E46 bimmers dont come with that though, you have to buy it just like any car, and it works well, i know quite a few people taht have used it...truely though man, dings are just a part of life...you just have to be strategic when you park, find some nice cars, park with them, or park WAY out in parking lots where the cars arnt so crammed together...seriously, you can never get away from those things, i actually had someone break the mirror off my 325Ci last year (which cost me a grip to have fixed) and i walk out and its just hanging there, nobody saw anything, no note left...nothing. Sucks but people have no respect for other people's property, and it will never change...it only gets worse as more people get out on the roads.
Best bet...be strategic about parking.

hey bro. well its nice to hear that you have a nice taste in cars..
i also have a 240sx (s13) with a RB25DET, its my project car.
And i drive a Black AP1 has a DD
what sucks is, i wash the car yesterday and i notice rock chips on the frontend
and a door ding on the drive side door.. i was SOOOOOOOO upset.
i dont know if i got the car with the door thing (i got the car this week)
or if it happen while i had it.
but i will try to get the door ding popped out
i am going to Wax the car, and maybe try to touch up some of the larger rock chips in the frontend.. but not really sure yet..
best thing to do, is watch where you park, and get the clear sticker things put on...

I was sitting in my old car (the Volvo, thanks God it wasn't my S or there would've been hell) at a metro parking lot getting my stuff together to get onto the subway and this car pulls in to my left. I glance over and it's an old couple in the car. Seconds later, I hear this big *thud* and look over and this old hag has swung her car door open and hit my door. I'm staring up at her for several minutes as she's trying to get out of the car. She didn't even realize she had hit my car.
People are careless when it comes to other people's stuff. Driving a nice car, you have to accept that someone somewhere is gonna ding it. It comes with the territory.

Yes, door dings are inevitable.
As for the rock chips, I do believe that 3M offers what they call an invisible bra. Its like plastic wrap thats cut specific to your car. They even make it for the side mirrors. I think it comes as a set including bumper, hood, and mirrors.

I use valet all the time, nothing has ever happened, nothing has ever been stolen, i use my valet key each and every time and i check the mileage before handing it over just in case...always been good to the car, polite and helpful...
Or you could buy an S2k that already has a few dents on it and not get mad when more happen :D Seriously though for door dings you usually want to park away. I walk the entire length of the parking lot at kroger because I keep mine as far away as possible.
and if you do get some dents. .
dent wizards, paintless dent removal, and it's inexpensive. paint chips tho. .thats another story, makes me wish i got a clear bra when i bought my car cuz my front bumper looks like crap now
