Squealing clutch
When the car is cold in first the clutch screams something terrible. It used to do this occasionally especially in the winter, but now its summer and every time I take it out (especially when starting on an incline the clutch seems either to be rubbing or something. After about 10 minutes of driving the problem/noise stops. Anybody experience this? What can be done about this?

My thoughts exactly. It's more a squeaking noise right? Does the noise stop when you press the clutch?

The noise stops when I put the clutch in. It begins when I start releasing it, but only in first gear.
The noise is kind of a squeak, but I would describe it as more of a very high pitched whine.
If it is a throwout bearing, how hard/expensive is this problem to fix?

Yes exactly. It's the throwout bearing. It's like a cyclical squealing noise. Although it's not that big of a deal it could be the start of other problems. When this happened to me my clutch eventually went. Doesn't mean that's gonna happen to you though, so I wouldn't be to concerned about it as long as the clutch itself still feels the same.

so does it make noise continously or just when you're letting out the clutch when taking off?
if it is the throwout bearing its basically a clutch job (removing/replacing the tranny).

huh? if he replaces the throwout bearing its gonna cost the same in labor as replacing the clutch.

Alright, so I have two options from what you guys are saying:
1) Ignore the problem and wait till the clutch goes and then just replace the clutch and get a new throwout bearing.
or
2) Replace the throwout bearing right now, which will cost the same in labor if i were to change/replace the existing clutch?
Just want to make sure I know what to do. And to answer the above post it does NOT make the noise continously just when let off the clutch when going into first gear.
And yes the clutch itself still feels the same.

did you happen to burn your clutch or anything prior to the noise? my car makes an odd squeak/squeal when taking off in first sometimes(usually on an incline or with the wheels turned one way), and it didn't start until after I accidently "burned" the clutch. So I'm guessing its just from the clutch/flywheel being smoothed over when it got burned. It still works fine though.
Well I'm not exactly sure what you mean buy "burnt" but I did stall it for the first time in about 2 years 2 weeks ago. And this very funny smell came from the engine bay, almost like horse manure, but the problem is I cant recal if this noise was occuring before that took place.
basically what it all comes down to is that your throwout bearing is bad. In order to replace it, it's going to cost the same amount as it would to replace a clutch (labor that is). If the tranny is out of teh car to do the throwout bearing, do the clutch at the same time and save some future labor costs.
^^^ No I havent burnt the clutch.
Now can the throwout bearing cause any further damage to the tranny if it is not replaced? Or will replacing it just get rid of the noise?

I never said anything about a burnt clutch. I said to have it replaced while the tranny is out of the car now, that way when the clutch you have does go bad, you wont have to pay to have the tranny dropped again.
