Default Car over heated

My car over heated about 2 weeks ago. I think it could be the thermostat or the lower hose not sure yet. But, the thing Iam worried about is it is idling a little funny well sitting at lights. It didnt do that before the over heating occured. I want to take it to acura because I do have a warranty but, I want to make sure it is going to be worth my while. ANy suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Tim

check vacuum hoses

see if air filter needs to be replaced

maybe your not getting enough fuel (fuel pump)

timing belt could be worn.

check those, then fix what needs to be fixed. as for the overheating...don't worry about it, my car has done that before and i've taken it to my mechanic and he says its just a malfunction in the thermostat.

no there is no codes. I kind of figured it may be a bad thermostat. Is there a write up anywhere on replacing one. I figured it wouldnt hurt to change it. It has 70k on it so I know its about time to do some prevenetive maintenence.

If its under warranty, I'd take it in without touching it. Of course it'd be worth your while, if the thermostat or something else needs to be replaced, the warranty covers it. But if you tear into it on your own, they could eventually weasel out of warranty work.

I had the same problem with mine and some guys told me maybe my thermostat is broken and not pumping stuff to my engine. Are your electric fans working fine? They dont work on my car and my car overheats when its sitting and not moving for about 25min. It sucks because it could be alot of things that i am having to test and rule out. I wish i had an easy fix. oh well. I love my car

My only worry is I did change the radiator out on my car because it was leaking I wasnt sure if the thermostat was considered a wear item.
