my Vtec kicks in @ 6000.. is it something wrong?
i have a 00 ITR and my Vtec kicks in @ 6k, is it normal? i just read it somewhere that the stock Vtec point should be @ 5700 not @ 6k like mine..
is it something wrong with my car?

Im sure its fine. The stock tach is usually a little bit off. I've heard it also depends on how hard the throttle is pressed but that might have been smoke blown up my ***.
Mires is probably right about the tach being off a bit, if it makes you feel any better mine is SET to 6000rpm, shifting at 9800rpm

it was under Normal operating temp, Full Throttle position, 3rd Gear @ 6000 RPM, oil changed the same morning.. and Vtec engaged @ 6000 that's why i am asking.. but most of ppl told me it's normal so i guess it's fine..

Now you know that 6000 rpm on your tach = 5700 rpm in real....

Everyone's tach is like that, don't get paranoid
Although its neet, you can tell your friends your car revvs to 9k, because of the error with the tach reading, your 8500rpm fuel cut appears to be a 9k fuel cut

Theyre all off, mine is off nearly 400rpm at an 8800rpm. I have a shift light wired into an r-spec vtec controller and the tach shows 9200rpm when the shift light is set for 8800rpm
yea there all off, i had a vafc2 which is supposed to read the correct rpms, as the stock tach would go higher the more unaccurate it gets, like idleing it would only be like 50 or so off to what the vafc2 was reading, by redline its like 400 off.
i dont' know about your guys.. but i have never hit the Redline on my R engine yet so i don't know where exactly it goes up to~ guess i might try it when my shift lights are install..~
Guys i have another question, what's the Compression of a stock ITR motor should get?? i did mine CP test a couple weeks ago and got 215 cross all 4 is it good or bad?? the engine suppose only have 30k km on it.. so its very low
i did some search and see others have 250 cross.. so is my 215 normal or no? my mechanic told me it's very good @ 215 but after reading other posts.. i am not too sure now~

215 on a B18C5 across the board represents good numbers and a healthy engine. As long as there is a minimal variation between each cylinders numbers (as here) you're fine.

hey lawrence, this is ray
my friend's old itr has the same problem as your itr (the vtec shift over at 6k rpm or so)
but i don't think it is a problem because most stock tachs are slightly off
even my tach is off when i hit close to redline (it hits up to 9100rpm on the tach but the power FC shows it is 8500 to 8700 rpm)
