Default welding sheetmetal

I've got a 2000 cx hatch with strong b20 with act extreme, hasport mounts, Itr tranny oem lsd, and run R compound tires. on the street it launches ok with wheel spin/ slight hop.

The passanger side fender well is starting to rip, let me make this more clear, RIP!
I'll be pulling the motor/ trans out next month to change cams, pumps, belt/tensioner, pulley, rod bolts, bearings, and pan/ lower gaskets. It's just easier for me to work on outside of the bay.

While motor is out I'm planning on getting sheetmetal rewelded, holes filled and clean up wiring of harness and accessories. my main ? is when I look into getting someone to help weld up the fender/holes what type of machine should I be getting someone to use as well as procedures?

thanks for your input, and in no way am I saying my 200hp beseries is causing the rip but lately it's not helping and I'm usually not one for letting a mustang roll by without giving them some hassle, but recently I've had to refrain.

Rob

just use a normal mig welder, but before you do, be sure to take a wire wheel to all the undercoating/seam sealer/paint...... if you dont it will make the weld contaminated, and also catch on fire, put off some nasty fumes......

I no longer make them for the crx, but I have gotten so much interest for other chassis that it has crossed my mind.

Thanks silly, even though you hate to say it

Maybe this will give the guy some ideas

What exactly does that 'fender brace' do?

Stiffens the front end, before anyone ask, no I have not had any scientific test done, the test would of out weighed the price of the braces. I have had a couple people get back to me with comments found here.

http://www.rcautoworks.com/FenderBracecomment.htm

I loved them, I original made them for my car but others wanted a pair, that's how it started. I would not of spent my money on something that did not work.

Since you are considering welding the fenderwell anyway you could just weld up something like in that picture to brace it.

A good way to check them out would be to jack up the front of the car and put the jack stands where they go, when you remove the jack the car should not flex as much. I think thats about right.
