Is there really any difference between cold air intakes? AEM,Injen, blah blah etc etc? Can yall shed some light on me please. I"m just not sure which one to get.

Longer answer: Dude, it's basically just a piece of pipe that extends your intake so that its closer to the ground and sucks up colder air. Don't worry too much about which brand to buy.

There isn't much difference in brands like AEM or Ingen becuase they are both quality products, but you will get what you pay for. Make sure it's bent properly or it will restrict air flow, but make sure you slap the right filter on there or it isn't worth a thing. Some people swear that ingen is better, but I have an AEM and LOVE it. IF I'm driving around town or don't get on the gas I don't even know it's there, but when it's time to go it comes to life big time and v-tec screams.

correct me if im wrong but any engine mods will void the warranty. a cai is totally worth it, sri=heat soak. like someone said before brands really dont matter because they all do the same thing. but fyi every dyno's ive seen, injen outperforms the aem. also the injen cai comes w/ the replacement washer bottle so you dont have to relocate the existing one. for injen cai.

 

If you do install the cold air it will only void part of the warranty, depending on how big of douche bags work at your dealer ship. I had this fight with my dad, the dealer said that installing the cold air will only void the part covering the air box but "IF ENGINE DAMAGE OR FAILURE OCCURS BUT IS NOT A DIRECT RESULT OF THE AFTERMARKET PARTS, IT WILL STILL BE COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY" Look at AEM. http://www.aempower.com/faq.asp?fid=23&sid=&tid=3 they have another page concering this.

 

Dont know if Injen still uses filters with filters that require oiling but i know AEM has the dry flow filter which will not void your MAF sensor warranty. I usually sell and purchase name brand intakes because the quality is there. YOu dont know what youre getting with an ebay brand.

performance wise...no.

though AEM does have a CARB sticker which saved me some trouble with the cops last week.

all intakes are almost the same with a minimal difference of hp (1-2whp if any changes at all)

if you are concerned about what other people may think, go name brand intakes. if you dont care about what other people think, get a cheap ebay one but the fitment may be a little off. and also, usually big name brands are carb exempt which can be less of a hassle

 

i think you should get a AEM Short ram preferably a V2 because i just installed one in my friends car and the response is awesome. after that im thinking about putting one in my dc5 when i get the chance. the thing about cold air is that depending on where your at, cold airs arent really that good to have due to weather conditions. on the warranty thing, if you have acura install it for you it will not void your warranty, as long as u have the receipt from the service area stating that they are the ones who installed the part.

I'm the type of person that's all DIY FTW. I'd rather do it myself and save the $. However, there's also a reason why my car is still completely stock: my parents technically own the car, so they don't want me voiding the warranty on anything.

But anyway, under the Moss-Maguson Act, if you install a CAI and your driveshaft snaps or something, since it pretty obviously has nothing to do with your CAI, your dealer is still obligated to fix it for you and don't let them tell you otherwise. So it's really up to you.

 

Well, when you blow up your engine, make sure and take all aftermarket parts OFF! Don't even argue with the dealer, save your stock parts and put them back on.

YOu know this is illegal, not to mention stupid.

Say you hydrolock with your CAI, then take it off, how are you gonna walk into a honda dealer saying your car hydrolocked with a stock air box, they're gonna laugh at you.

Are you trying to say you can't hydrolock an engine with the stock air box? Because you can, its a hell of alot more difficult, but you can. I've actually seen it happen twice...

Im not saying its impossible, its that you have to be a real dumbass to do it. Think about how deep your car has to be to submerge the stock box. Sure there are floods and what not be still.
