Default Fuel Injection cleaner causing problems?

has anyone ever added fuel injection cleaner to there cars and experienced problems afterwards? I know its sappose to clean the injectors, and I know this isn't quite relative but I used a carbon-remover (seafoam) on my accord with the same mileage and it caused one of my valves to hang (mechanic said a peice of the carbon that was "cleaned off" got stuck in valvetrain. The car ran like crap untill i pulled the head off it. I know its paranoid, but too me it seems like one of those "don't fix it if its not broken" situations, especially after I did the seafoam thing that was sappose to "help restore my older cars life", what a load of crap.

I'm a second year mechanc apprentice. What I learned in school about carbon cleaners is, to use them very slowly. Especially if you are using a harsh or strong chemical. Never use too much all at once. At work, we perform a "motorvac" service, which runs the engine on military grade gun soap for an hour and a half. i've seen people use a product from QMI called "full throttle fuel system cleaner" the directions specify that the induction cleaner part (its a 3 part system) be feed in with an IV on a slow drip into a vacume line, and the whole process is supposed to take 2 hours to complete. Most speedy lube places do it in 20-30 mins...not good.

I know in the owners manual it says not to add additives but with all these appealing products that sound wonderful it's hard not to. I ran teh seafoam and had no problem and in a few days im gonna run some engine flush i can let you know how it works.

Intresting how the owners manual says that you should not add that stuff, yet when you take your car into acura dealerships they try and sell you all the same crap speedy lube does. Seafoam was an absolute nightmare for me, it makes me worry about all these stupid chemicals they are comming out with. Preventative maintaince is going to hell.

My very first car I had for 3 years and never did anything but change filters and oil, and of course work as stuff wore out, never did tranny fluid or fuel system flushs or engine flushs or any of that crap and i drove the crap out of that car. It made it till i sold it with 200k miles on it...Sigh...
