what engine to swap into a 1997 SH
im looking at 1997 SH which has an engine thats kinda messed up like smoking and all with 142k miles. i was thinking it would prolly be cheaper to swap another engine in since my friend can do the labor. any ideas on engines?
why not just replace it with another h22. Theres not really anything else you would want to swap in it unless you start getting into some heavy modification.
you can opt for an engine rebuild... or you can get either the JDM h22, the JDM H22 type s, or the EURO (if im not mistaken)...
or you can just swap in another USDM h22A4 into your car...
either of those you will be really happy... H series engines are beasts... just gotta build it right and all

id personally buy a type-s engine from an importer, and make sure the idiots at the importers kno wyou want a type-s which has atts (not the sir s-spec which looks like a type-s but is not atts equipped)
or he could buy a jdm h22 SiR instead of going with the type s and then with the money he saved from not getting the type s he could get some other decent mods
Since I've been looking in the past like 2 weeks there have been like 75 different things on JDM H22's on having atts and not having atts and so many other questions and bs responses by a ton of people can we just have a thread put into the essential prelude links explaining the differences between the sir and the type s. this topic is becoming about as annoying as the which header is better question that used to come up every day. Mods please help lol.

actually he wouldnt save any money once he pays for the new transmisison and bracket to use the base model halfshaft.
buying the type-s longblock is probably the cheapest direct bolt in he can do besides finding a used type-sh engine.
