Default H22 Swap Into Prelude? Few Questions...

I am looking at selling my accord, and getting something a little faster.

I found this on craigslist.. http://phoenix.craigslist.org/car/454641714.html

It has no engine, and is in obvious need of some body work, but for the price, I don't want to pass it up.

I found these two H22's on craigslist as well, the first one looks much cleaner, but the second one is a Type S engine from a JDM prelude, but it looks to be in poor condition, but then again, it may just be really dirty, I mean, it is an engine!

Engine Swap
Option 1 -http://phoenix.craigslist.org/pts/453915064.html

Options 2 & 3 - http://phoenix.craigslist.org/pts/451991705.html

What engine should I go with, out of those 3? I really want the Type S engine, I want the power.

I went on wikipedia, and it says it has 220PS, I am not sure how that translates to HP, cause it also has another h22 listed with 190PS/187HP so I am not sure how to translate that.

My mechanic said he would help me rebuild and install the engine for about $900, he just installed/rebuilt a big block 454 for my 79 blazer, and that only costed me $700, but he said honda engines are a little bit tricker to get in, is that true, or is he tryin to get extra money outta me? Either way, isnt $900 pretty cheap for a swap?

Anyways, I am looking for your guys suggestions, what engine should I get?

he definately does not mean 900$ for an h22 swap, labor alone.. maybe.

just remember when you're doing the swap, take care of the maintenance so that you'll know you're good for that long, and because your motor's out.. whats another 150$ right?

the 1st one seems too good to be true.. 450$ is VERY cheap for an h22. get a leakdown test done.. if it checks out.. ship it out to me =D

the 2nd/3rd.. ask for pricing he'll probably ask for 1500-2k or something..

He is very cheap when it comes to labor, that is not including the price of the engine or parts needed, that is all labor.

For the 2nd/3rd ones, he wants 1200 for the type s, and 1000 for the other one, he just got back to me.

Is that a good price for the engine?!

Where would I get a leaktest done?

Thats odd because the jdm blue top is NOT an h22 its a f20b accord sir-t
200horses 156 torque unless its an h22 with a random blue valvecover which i doubt. The first option looks like your best one to me but you need to do a leakdown test the motor "looks" alright but all he did was paint the stock exaust manifold and valve cover lol. If you go with the 98 h22a4 then there are quite a few little things that have to be done to get it 100% like the injectors have to be swaped to obd1 peak and holds OR youl need and obd1 to obd2 conversion harness for the ob2 ecu. At all possible try and get an obd1 motor to save the headache that i went threw.

Thats possible im just saying make sure you double check because blue valve covers came on the f20b sir's. but your right it could be aftermarket.

I met with the guy today, with the blue h22, he said we will include the engine, the trans that was just rebuilt, the comp., and a pretty good vtech controller, and he will get a leak test or whatever done, and he is paying for that, he wants $1700, is that too steep?

Why don't you swap an H22 into your current accord?

Mount kit is provided by Hasport. If you were local, I'd say 600$ for labor I'd do it all. I've done over 5 of them now locally.

I would swap into my accord, but its AT, which I hate more than anything, I wouldnt have taken this car, but I got such a good price on it, 1400 under kbb from a family friend, its a fun little car, but I want more power, and definetly manual tranny.

The shell appears to be a deal....man Preludes look funny with no engine! Super 4x4!
Just be careful where you buy the engine from....I have heard horror stories.
Hmotorsonline is a very reputable place....and I can get awesome JDM H22's for $1150 local.
