i have a 94 civic coupe with a gsr swap. it wont downshift cleanly into 2nd, every other gear transition works fine, but when i try to go into 2nd, i have to stick it up into 1st before it will go into 2nd. any ideas on why this happens, and what i can do to get it to stop. it makes driving the car just a little tricky. could it be the shift linkage? thanks for the help!

 

cheapest things to try is change tranny fluid and change oem bushings out for ES poly bushings. IF it still doesn't help, you need a new 2nd gear synchro set which is about $180 from dealer plus labor. Hope the first 2 help!
