Default comfy & low suspension for SI

Hi, my friend has an SI hatch, and he's looking to lower it,

but the guy already complains about the stock suspension being too "bumpy"

but he wants it low,
SO what suspension would you guys recommend would work good for him?
i don't think he's really trippin off handling and all that.

Some ideas would be great, as i'm really mostly familiar with pre y2k cars

thanks!

Well, I'd say go with Koni or Tokico shock/struts and Ground Control coilovers, but even that might be "too bumpy". I don't know about soft low sitting EM2's, that's not something I'm keen on.

heh,
yeah that's what i'm sayin,
I like my suspension firm too.

But, it's his car so whatever,
I think he'll probably be happy with it as long as it's not too much or whatever.

i'm thinkin maybe some straight up springs,
gc's are race springs, and linear rate, naturally a harsher ride..

I was only mentioning them, because I do not know of a spring set to go lower than a 2.5" drop without getting on the "stiff" side for the EM2.

surely if you're gonna go very low, you dont want very soft springs so you dont rub and/or scrub the arches.

Low slung springs are firm for a reason aren't they?

Well, the original idea behind modifying your suspension was to improve driving characteristics for sport. The entire fashion element was second in the history of custom springs. The firmness was to improve handling abilities, and the fact that it lowered the vehicle, added to the overall effect by dropping the center of mass.

Well thats kinda what i meant. I know that lowering drops the centre of gravity. And also that firmer springs lessen the pitch and roll effect when you're giving it some beans. I'm also aware that the look achieved by lowering wasnt the original idea behind doing it.

All pointing to the fact that a soft yet extreme lowered ride would be pointless. It wouldn't improve driving characteristics a great deal, as it would still be floaty even though the CoG was a couple of inches lower. Oh yeah not to mention that scrubbage and rubbage issue.

LOW + FIRM = GOOD

If he's gay, steal his car. just kidding.

I guess his best option is something in the line of Tein S-Tech's with Tokico's or something.

my H&R's arent to low (1.3" drop), but are very much a non-aggressive riding coil.
