CIVIC IDLE CONTROL VALVE QUESTION
K this is my question why are there 2 idle control valves the one under the throttle body "THE Fast Idle Thermo Valve"" that has the spring or w.e inside and the one that goes behind th Intake manifold the ICV the black looking 1 whats the difference between both of them

im pretty sure youre getting one confused with something...depending on what year and trim you have..i think there should only be one...

FITV is mechanical, IACV is electrical. FITV is used during cold starts or until the coolant is hot enough to make the wax pellet expand enough to seal off the air passage into the intake manifold. The IACV is then used by the ECU to control the idle.

If you take it off, you won't have the additional air flow that it was providing during cold starts. So really the question is: How cold can it be where FITV operation isn't really needed? And in that thread, one guy states "If you're living in CA, you won't need it", so there's an answer. I'd say if you're living up north, you'd need it.
So yes, with the FITV off the car, it will still be able to idle just fine when warmed up since the FITV is basically disabled. It's cold idle operation that will be effected.

yea thats what i figured because i saw people selling this block off plate or w.e but from what i had heard was that the fitv was the one that handled the idle during start and when the car was hot then the iacv took over so without the fitv the car should not idle at all during cold it should go crazy
