Default Fuel pump turns on when it wants to?

I have a 93 SI with 225XXX miles on it. It runs excellent with no issues, has some goodies and well cared for. This is the problem, I had a fuel cut off mounted in line with the wire that goes to the fuel pump but like a year ago I started having issues with it so I took it off, and ran the wire like stock again even soldered the wire. Lately, my car has been acting up because when I get in I turn the key to the on position but the pump does not turn on immediately, sometimes it takes like a few minutes to turn on, as long as 5 minutes. The pump then magically turns on, I have taken everything apart and nothing can be found. I am stumped. I am about to swap fuel pumps with my gsr to see if that will fix the problem, but has anyone come across this issue. Oh, it is the stock pump.

I'm almost sure it's your main relay.

yep, sounds like it's time for you to repair or replace your main relay. A very common problem with hondas.

OK, but My car never turns off and the fuel pupm delays in priming the system but the car has never turned off while already running. If this is the problem I can easily run to the junk yard and exchange it, but where is it on the Civc EG? Thanks for the help

If the relay is bad the car will never shut off while driving. You can easily reach it, it's above the hood latch by the pedals. Just pulls out.

Going from memory, next to the clutch and up.
