Default New motor mounts?

I was under the hood today for something else and found that i can wobble the torque rod/mount around a bit. Do you just replace the bushings in this or buy a whole new rod assembly? I'm also going to check the other mounts with a pry bar, I found the ones on each side of the engine but where is the one for the back and can i get to it in the driveway or do I need a lift? Also, I would like to go with poly bushings but I sorta want to retain the smooth feel of stock, dunno if poly will make that much difference? Any other recommendations on how to do this job and what to lookout for is appreciated. Thanks

Just to be sure where is this mount located? Did it move freely or with resistance?
If you put polyurethane mounts in you will notice a big change in vibration especially at idle.
You can check both front and rear mounts by running the car, putting it in drive or reverse and giving the gas a quick goose. If the engine moves much more than an inch you may have worn out or broken mounts

it's the torque rod/mount that is on the front of the engine between the radiator and exhaust manifold. I imagine it keeps the engine from flopping over when you drive. I could move it around fairly easily and the rubber has a very noticeable crack in it if i pull the outside shroud away. Everywhere I see for replacement sells the whole rod assembly as one unit (about 1 foot long)

Ok the front mount.
Yea if you can see a crack in it you should go ahead and replace it

I still have to check but I might go ahead and replace all 4 mounts since it's at 192000 miles. I can get an OEM kit off ebay for 150. Are there any certain difficulties with replacing any of these? the sides and front look pretty straightforward, dunno about the rear tho. Also, what's with the rear mount having a vacuum canister or something like that on it? thx

You will need to support the engine with a jack to keep it from falling but no huge issue till you get to the back. That one can be a pain
good luck.

when supporting the engine with a jack it is HIGHLY ADVISABLE to use a 2 by 6 between jack and oil pan to spread the weight of the engine

OK, so nothing too bad. It can't be as bad as my old truck was, 900+ pound engine is fun! I should have access to a lift too so that should help. What's the canister on the rear mount? never seen that before. thx

Well I got somebody to power brake the car in F and R while I watched the engine and it moves about 1.5-2 inches between the two extremes at the top of the engine. Also had it on a lift and I can wiggle it pretty good with a pry bar. So I'm replacing all 4 mounts, have them all ordered for $150. It looks like the best way to replace the rear mount is to remove the intake manifold and get it from the top. Car outta be alot smoother after this..
