Default B20VTEC Cam selection and Valve Clearance.

I have spent countless hours searching/reading/looking up cams. Everything from the Blox stage 2's to Jun III's. And I keep getting conflicting info.

I have sort of a clue as to what cam to get, but then i'm curious as to piston valve clearance.

Conflicting info on BC3+ and BC4+ with the lift and duration.

I was thinking about the BC4's but how will a 12.3 lift on the intake be with my b20z pistons, and milled ITR head.

I have seen dyno after dyno of cams this VS that. I'm torn between BC3+ and BC4's. How Important is the compression. I'm at about 10.5:1 on a b20/vtec. Every dyno points that the BC4's make a good bit more power. How ever the BC3+'s seem to be a better street cam, and it looks like you can run them w/out valve train.

My motor consists of
b20b block
b20z pistons
milled .020 ITR head.

Thats really all the important stuff, having to deal with pistons to valve clearance.

Can someone please clarify as to the specs on the BC3+'s? I'm leaning towards that cam due to pistons to valve clearance.

TIA

If that.

Your are pushing seriously close with ITR cams on stock pistons.

So how can guys run STOCK pistons with jun III's with just a little bit of knotching out the pistons?

Both of you dont make sense. Type R is the biggest cam I can go. I find that VERY hard to believe.

So why cant I run BC3+'s. They only have a either 11.4 or 11.6 intake and I think an 11.8 exhaust.

Show me a person running Jun 3's with stock B20 pistons.

My buddies build that I helped with:

Stock B20 bottom end (USDM CR-V)
Mildly worked GSR head (ported, milled alhtough not sure how much)
JUN stage 3 cams (clearence issues during vtec engagement cured with a dremel)
ITR plenum
JUN header

205whp ~150wtq

I have before and after pictures of the pistons if you want.

That coming from EKHatch in the B20VTEC Experiences with stock block thread. Se if can be done. I think there is alot more room that people think in there. BC3+'s will do just fine. I dont know what the sweat is about

bend the valves on vtec. keep notching the pistons out until it doesnt do it anymore.

dremeled pistons arent stock. you didnt perchance balance the pistons after you precision milled them with a dremel did you? i didnt think so.

also ive seen (on this board) negative results on using BC spec 3's with stock valvetrain. half *** builds give b20's and LS/vtecs a bad name...

i still dont understand why you made this post. both of the cams will hit the piston with anything larger than gsr cams. try doing some research on omnis gsr cranked b20 build
