Urrrggg! Front UCA Balljoints!
Why do the OEM ones wear out so fast? It seems like 2 times a year I have to replace the upper control arms because the balljoints start knocking or have play in them. Am I retarded and doing something wrong? Anyone else have this problem?

You sir are retarded
. Which car, the Accord? I wll assume it has something to do with amount of camber in front? Are they serviceable, or do you HAVE to replace the UCA's?

You have to replace the whole arm... I went through one set last year
There's an outfit on ebay that sells them pretty reasonably. Can-Am parts I think is the name.

Hmm... do you
A) have a tendency to pound curbs?
B) bottom the control arm against the body?
The latter seems like it'd really pound the balljoints.

I just exploded my right front upper ball joint on the teg at the last race. I think the problem may be that my ride height was too low and the UCA was actually catching on the inner fender, which transferred the load to the ball joint. Looks like it popped it up out of the UCA and destroyed the boot in the process. Have you checked your inner fenders to make sure you're not rubbing on them? I'm going to try raising my ride height a little on that corner to see if that helps matters.
Edit: Actually .. after thinking about that for a minute, I'm not sure that will fully solve the problem. I may also need to add bump stops to the shocks since I don't believe I have any on there right now.

This is mainly on the prelude, no they are not servicable. I cannot find an aftermarket "press in" replacement RJ. I see ones for 1997 and up, I wonder if they would work.
Yes, I pound curbs, who doesn't.
They are not that I know of hitting the chassis anywhere, I will double check.
The accord balljoints last longer for some reason.. Maybe the TQ applied during acceleration is more on the prelude?

I'm not sure what's the different between the 4Gen and 5Gen, but I've used these before on my 5Gen:

Its not that they are comming loose from the UCA's, the joints themselves are wearing out, I don't understand how welding them could fix them.
Billy - Those are the ones I have seen around, I'm just hesitant to buy them and not knowing if they fit although I'm 80% sure they would..
