Default compression test

I tested a 96 civic 4 door i was interested in buying, reading was 178, 158, 178, 178. What are the specs for a DX. Is that real bad? I was told to try the bad cylinder with a little oil. So I will try that next? The car is going for 2,000. It has unknown miles>should i buy? Thanks for the help

cylinder #2 seems kinda low compared to the other three. and are you sure you read it accuritly? i have yet to see so many of the same number when doing a compression test. but anyway, the difference with 158 and 178 is kinda pushing it, but seems ok. but it might just need a valve job to correct the lower number.

i've seen MUCH worse, so for $2k, i say go for it.

Cylindar 2 seems a tad low. But the others look great. You can't complain for the price of $2000 though.

Is compression the best test to do to check health of engine? What are some other things to look for since odometer is incorect dont know how many miles on engine.
