93 Prelude w/ EURO-R H22 SWAP. BYE BYE H23...advise needed
Hello guys,
A good friend of my wants me to install a JDM H22 EURO-R swap in his 93 Honda Prelude SI. His original motor I believe is a H23. The motor is currently in transit and was ordered form hmotorsonline. The motor is just about a complete swap which includes, motor, LSD trans, engine harness, and ECU. I have seen pics of the swap and it is very clean because it is only a 2001 with 15,000 miles. As you all know this is an OBD2 motor that will be placed in an OBD1 car. He approched me just a dew days ago about doing the swap for him and I have to get back to him as soon as I can. I know for sure that this will be much more of a challenge than when I insalled my 94' JDM B18C in my 93 Civic hatch. What kind of advise can you guys give me? I have tried searching, but my results were way too broad; with not much luck.
What problems should I be awear of and what challenges may I face? Motor mounts? -What do I keep and what do I need to get?
ODD1 chassie to ODB2 motor. -What conversion harness do they make available?
Since its a JDM motor will I have to rip off the H23 engine harness and wrap it around my H22?
Any gear box linkage problems?
Will the factory intake, down pipe be able to fit back up to get us home from the garage?
Will the H22 radiator hoses work, when we order new ones?
Any other wiring or smog related issues?
For those that know what they are talking about, and have been there please respond. We don't like to RIG anything, we want it done right.
thanks guys.
Justin

Conversion harnesses are available all over the internet. If you got the complete change over, it should come with a new harness and correct ECU. If not, check out phearable.net. If the old transmission was a manual and the new one is a manual, the gearbox shouldn't be a problem. Factory intake will work, as well as the original radiator, and normal USDM hoses. Smog shouldn't be a problem unless you're in CA
Hello,
Well I just was suprised when my freind told me he ordered a OBD2 motor. I wouldn't think twice about it if it was an OBD1 conversion. What motor mounts and brackets do I use? What all additional do I have to wire up to the ecu? (Is there any companies that offers a quick plug and play harness. Or any online valuable resouces?)
About the engine harness...Begin a JDM motor the engine harness has the battery terminal on the oppsite side as USDM so therefor it unusable? You cannot just take the harness and flip it becasue the accessories will not match-up. This is why I believe we need to take off our USDM engine harness and wrap it around our JDM motor.
Is there any online editorials for completing a similar swap?
thanks, Justin
