Default car is acting wierd.

my car wont hold a steady idle, running very rich and produces black smoke, and the gas mileage went down to about 15-20mpg.

this all happened after i installed my new intake manifold on my jdm d15b which i learned uses a different throttle body than the edelbrock manifold wants. im now using a tb off a d16z6 i had laying around the house so im thinking the problem may be either the TPS sensor or the MAP sensor which is attached to the tb rather than a hose to the firewall. i also did the coolant bypass that may have tricked the IACV but i dont see why that would make the car run very rich.

any ideas to whats going on with the car? oh yea, i also have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator that i dropped the PSI down to 20psi and the car was still running. before this problem the car would normally die around 30 psi and thats what is leading me to think its a sensor problem. i didnt find no leaks either.

maybe if i route the coolant back through the IACV then something might help out ill do it soon but i still dont think the reason for the car running rich is because of this....well my intention of this was a bump!!

make sure the amss airflow sensor is on the right way. i installed some subs on a friends car, then someone was helping me put everything back on(i had to take the MAF off to get to the firewall) except he put the MAF on backwords. it made the black smoke, no smooth idle...sounds like that might be it.

whats this AMSS airflow sensor? and MAF?? u mean the MAP sensor that needs vacuum from the throttle body? i cant think of a way that would be backwards because the plug faces the entry to the TB right?

im thinking its the TPS (throttle position sensor) because the TB im using was found im my garage and i needed it on the count my jdm one wouldnt let it idle and send it to 3000rpm no matter wat i did unless i plugged the bottom hole on the inside of the TB.

the ECU isnt the problem i swapped it with another stock one that i used to have and problem was still there.

timing checked in fine, and i adjusted it both ways 2* with no change to the idle other than a slight help in calming the jumping around.

does this really sound like a bad TPS sensor? car also backfires wen the car is in gear and the engine is used to slow the car down.
