Could a bad IACV cause a CEL 5 (MAP Sensor)?
Hello H-tech. I'm currently having troubles getting my B18A/B motor running right. Its a complete build but I think that's beside the point. I started out throwing a CEL 5. I could get the car running with a little throttle play but with-in 1 minute the car would shut off.
So I bought a known good Map sensor from my tuner. Installed the sensor and the car will almost run on its own, and with some thottle its possible to keep the car running for any given time. However, I'm still throwing a CEL 5. I have now learned that the IACV "hmms." I bought the valve from a buddy of mine, cleaned it, and installed it not thinking anything about it being bad.
The questions is this. If the IACV was to be stuck OPEN wouldnt that cause a drop in pressure inside the Intake Manifold, therefor creating a failed MAP reading?

Possibly. It runs pretty smooth at 1200 RMP with little engine vibration and a slight change in engine RPM drop every couple revolutions.
Are you thinking timing?

before we go any further, do me a favor and triple check the map sensor connection. there are 3 connectors on the wiring harness that can reach, and will fit. I personally have done this. Obviously the car won't run if the map is disconnected, but for some reason the wrong connector will provide just enough contenuity to allow the car to run, and even drive (like ****) but anyway, at this point it is the easiest thing to verify, and a complete heartache if you save it for last after more invasive testing... lol

yes I understand. I'm going to the ecu and figure out which wire is the MAP and do a continuity check to verfiy that it is correct.
You said there is three connectors that will fit? I'm only aware of the TPS and MAP are the same?

MAP and TPS have same connector. it spossible you have them crossed. for the heck it it just try swapping them and see if yoru code goes away. A bad iacv will not throw a cel code though and if it wont run like your saying it does sound like crossed tps/map plugs. I been there before lol

I didnt switch the sensors over but I did remove both of them and tried to take a voltage reading from the signal wire to see which was which. I didnt conclude anything.

I think I have found the problem. Thanks to another post the Map sensor wire colors are
Yellow/Red
Green/white
Red/Green
I have the last two wires switched with eachother. I'm not going to be able to test this until I get a new jack, mine gave out today. I also have to find a coolant leak before hand as well.
