93 Civic Starter
The starter on my 1993 Honda Civic LX is pretty much dead now, hard to get the car started. I have a new one ordered that should arrive tomorrow. I am just wondering whether I should go to the dealership to get the new one put on, or if it is a job that I can do and be able to save some cash. I have done my own work on cars before, replacing radiators, other things here and there. I'm not trained or anything with cars, but do have some experience and i'm a technical kind of person. Is it just a means of taking the old one off and bolting the new one on? Any special things I have to keep in mind? Any input would be great. Also, if there's any link to a thread on a guide of how to do it, that would be great to look at. Thanks.
of course you should do it. hell i even take mine off in the autozone parking lot in like 5 mins. its very easy.dissconnect your battery. take off your intake if you got one and you will see the starter under it. un bolt the wires to it. unbolt the starter and your done. putting it on is just the reverse. if you go to the dealer you better put some k/y jelly on your butt cuz you will get screwed hard and fast. if i said this wrong feel free to flame me. its the way i do it
1)disconnect the neg bat terminal
2)remove intake arm for accessibility
3) remove power wire from starter and signal
4)remove the two 14mm bolts that hold the starter on
thats it. then put back on in reverse order.tools you need is a 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, ratchet and a extension

Exactly like this. It'll probably take you a while if it's your first time (which it sounds like it is), but it's really easy to do. Have someone help you if you want, you'll have fun doing it.

I was intimidated at first when I didn't know anything about cars. Just dive in there man, that's the best advice I can give you. Yeah, sometimes you screw up when you work on cars but that only teaches you what not to do the next time around.
