Default Cuise control - Electronic vs mecanical versions

Hi guys!

I want to swap in an acura 99 EL (same as civic with few options), but I don't want to loose my cruise control. Apparently, for some reason, when you swap in a EL that has the electronic cruise control, it becomes non-fonctionnal. What are my options? Would there be a rewiring necessary? Convert to the mecanical version of the cruise control (vacuum activated, 4 wires)?

Thanks for any help!

more than likely will be to much hassle and money for what your gonna get. cruise control stuff isnt cheap. maybe buy a universal system and try that. ive seen some for like 75 bucks. as opposed to the mucho dollars for factory cruise stuff

Sure, but I want to understand what makes the factory cruise not work when swapping? What is the ECU sending where that makes it not work?

What do you mean "swap in an acura 99 EL"?
Swap in a d16y8? Swap it into what?

Anything, I'm swapping a GSR in, but apparently there is something with the ECU communicating with the cruise control box and it will not work when you swap out the ECU.
