This is what the mechanic thinks is wrong with the CAMS. He thinks the Journals are a bit too tall.

With the Cams installed ice cold, they spin freely, motor warms up, cams expand and they grab the aluminum bearing surface on the head and they lock up

I think the bottom end will be okay but check the head.

The mechanic didn't check clearances or didn't degree the cams before starting it up. If he was the one driving the car then it's his buck to fix the f-up!

I am having a hard time believing that. I will talk to Crower on Monday and see what they have to say.

He had adjustable Cam gears with it, and they have been a reliable shop in the past. It is hard to think they would make that kind of mistake. According to him, he didn't even rev it past 3500 rpm.

What I am trying to say is that the likelihood of Operator error is much greater than a cam defect. I do not know the person but look into it further!

I will look into it. I think I am a bit too ignorant to know if it was indeed operator error. I guess that is a problem with paying someone else to do things for you.

Anyone know an independant honda mechanic in MD who would be willing to go out to this shop in Damascus MD and take a look at it for a second opinion?

NorthEnd Performance....I can't find their number but the mechanics there are really good dudes.....don't know if they'd come all the way down there though.

Absolutely right, I cant say how many times someone put a Cam in with out doing this and wondered why their motor blew up.
