Your struts would probably be really noisey, like when going over bumps they make squeaking noises.
As for the headlight.. take it out, dont touch the glass, and look to see if anything in there is blown out. It would look like a house light would look like when they go out.

about the struts just push up and down on the fender and see if the car bounces around. if it's all bouncy the srut is blown. they can also blow and the sieze so if you push down real hard on the fender and the car doesn't drop at all the truts are bad as well.
with good struts you can push the car down some and it stay tight and doesn't really bounce much but is does travel some. if you do this and their bad you will know.

Quick solution to see if it's your bulb or ballast that's dead: Switch bulbs. If the bulb that wasn't working on the passenger side now works on the driver side or vice versa, then your bulb isn't broken, your ballast is.
If the bulb doesn't work on either ballast, it's most likely dead.

You have to have a working igniter and a working ballast to test an hid bulb. the likely hood of the bulb being bad is very slim. I have had mine for many years and they are still fine. If I had to guess it would be the ballast. Check the grounds for the system and if they are at all loose then that is why they are toast.

To check the struts, you should push the car down, and it should return to its original position without bouncing back down. If it bounces around too much, the strut is blown.
