Default no reverse? tranny swap question.

I bought a 90 crx and it wont go into reverse, the seller said it was because he bent the shift linkage. Well i can tell a syncro is bad and it shifts too good everywhere else to be a bent linkage.

i plan on doing a b16 swap soon but if i gotta change transmissions now, is there a tranny i can use on my d15 and the b16 also? will it be a good tranny. plus i have the cable clutch (my car is a dx)

what do mean you can tell its a bad syncro.?? reverse doesnt even have a syncro in our cars,,

and no there isnt a tranny you can use on the d that will work on the bmotor..i mean you can make an adapter plate or something it not worth it in the end.

yes it is very possible that it is a bent shift linkage or bent shift fork..that would defineatly explain why it wont go into reverse plus the previous owner said that was the problem so it probably is..

and have you ever noticed how it whines in reverse like race cars trannys without snycros (a.k.a. dogbox tranny),,it has no syncro in reverse its a straight cut gear thats why you get that grind if you dont let the tranny stop spiining or put it in 1st then reverse....(just letting you know since you didnt know about the reverse)

is the linkage under the tranny? this is my first honda ive only dealt with building dsm's

a buddy of mine has the linkage from a 90 crx so we could replace it without dropping the tranny right? or could we bend it back

the linkage is under the car and connects to the back of the tranny...just get the car up in the air on jackstands and you'll see it..follow it from the shifter itself to the tranny and you need and a socket set and some kind of pinch to get the bitch pin out of the tranny...you may want to get a helms manual when doing this ,,this is a big deal
