Default Removing back seats out of my R, good idea or a stupid idea...?

Yeah so good or stupid? I'm wanting to reduce weight and i'm wondering if it would make much differance in me doing so, i've seen some R's stripped of back seats and thinking of removing them, just not shure how to and plus i'm not wanting them in because i don't like people sitting in the back of my car as they mark the red recaro seats etc and plus want it lighter...haha um so yeah opionions please and if someone could give me instructions or a link to removing them it would be much apreciated. Cheers

Fold the seat down. Use pliers to remove the plastic clips between the backrest and the panel. Slide the backrest toward the panel to remove it from the metal bracket in the middle of the two backrests. Then take out the backrest.

For the cushion, take a 10mm socket and remove the bolt. Lift the cushion up from the back and remove metal brackets under the cushion from the holes in the floor.

You might save 20-30 lbs.

i removed the back seat on my R...
it is because the back seat is not functional anymore after i put the cage (safety 21, non back seat compatiable)
for weight saving, i don't know if it is worth because the rear seat is pretty damn light
but since u don't want to carry people at the back, i will say DO it haha I hate to carry people in my back seat too

btw without the back seat, there is much more road noise tho... well, it is not as worse as no panels

Cheers heaps for the instructions too they helped a lot, i spent ages before trying to remove them but no luck untill you helped me out. thanks again

Mine have been out the entire time I've owned my ITR and for the last 6 months of owning my GSR. Its and easy and bearable 35lbs to take out. I actually made a thread right after I did it with weights listed.... you may aswell take out the rear seatbelts too

I took it out on my old '97 mostly for the look, actually. Then, just buy the c/f fuel pump cover from passwordjdm.

When I installed my roll bar, it wasn't rear seat compatable and obviously even if the rear seat could be used with a roll bar, it is extremely unsafe for the rear occupants.

When I put the roll bar in, I sold my rear seat. Kicked myself in the nuts for doing so. Keep your rear seat in storage if you take it out

Over the last month I have been getting my car back to OEM as much as possible and just recently cut the roll bar out and installed another rear ITR seat (Thanks again Dave B).

Good idea if you are leaving for a weeks vacation and you leave it with your good buddy so he can watch it for you. Knowing of course that your good buddy needs the rear seat to carry around two kids.

Your car will be way louder and depending on what kind of exhaust you run - may render your stereo unuseable.

It's especially bad on the highway because of tire noise and the drone of the exhaust hovering at 4K

BPR - who likes quiet powa

I guess it depends on what you're using the car for. Are you doing it for looks? Is it a daily driver? Do you race the car?

As BPR mentioned, the noise is greatly increased when the rear seats are out.

i guess i'm one of the only ones with back seats if my car was more for track then for sure they would come out but i do so much driving just around on the street I keep them in just in case.

That's looks like some space-age military land mine or something...
