i just got my motor in and installed it. Its a jdm b16 sir2 but it came off an automatic. my question is, are the cams different in an auto vs. a manual? im running a jdm p30 ecu and a usdm tranny off a 2000 si all stock, and vtec doesnt engage till about 6500 or so, and its a bit hesitant, but no cel, any advice ????

Did you check your oil level?

Try cleaning the vtec solenoid screen.
