I have b18c1 motor in my civic coupe with minimal mods. Intake and exhaust and a chipped ecu which gives a larger fuel map and makes VTEC kick harder.

My question is with those minimal mods, when I go to install my new clutch will it be a mistake on my part to install an exedy lightweight 9.4ib flywheel? Or will this actually add to the performance of my car? Example quicker 0-60 times? Faster revs across the rpm range?

 

was your car tuned with that chip or is it an ebay one?

i dont see how a lighter flywheel would really be a disadvantage. the car's all motor anyways. if you have the money for the part, might as well upgrade while the tranny is off.

On second hand the rotational mass isnt gonna affect your car, unless the car has head work or something to that matter.

 

Unless that's a custom map tuned to your car, I bet that chip isn't helping you at all.

I kept my stock flywheel and only replaced my clutch when I finally thought it was going to give up on me.

 

Personally I view a lighter flywheel as a required upgrade for NA powered cars. You just have to play a little more attention when driving around in the city.

 

The lighter flywheel could give you more wheel spin on the launch.

The h-t search sucks *****, me and bense were conversating about a light fly wheel a few weeks ago, and I cant for the life of me fine it, basically as I remember you'll benefit in the higher rpm with torque, and the lowend will suffer. You will rev more quickly though but you may drop revs faster as well, so you better hope your synchros are in good shape and your a mad jdm shifter, cause your gonna have to shift faster to stay in the sweet spot if you don't have a lighter valvetrain as well, Now this only applies if you are getting a crazy light flywheel thats like 7.5, 8 lbs.
