Honda CRX ignition Switch problem
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a 1988 HOndaa CRX. It is my first car and its cool. ONly one problem. I am using a screwdriver for a key (LONG STORY DO NOT FEEL LIKE TELLING IT; Car wasn't stolen, just the actual previous owner messed it up- it was his project car). Anyway I need an ignition switch and a steering column housing for my CRX . The thing is that I do not want to go to the Honda dealer and pay $200-$300, so I rather pay secondhand.
1) Does the Steering column /or ignition in a 1989 HOnda Accord (Or any other Honda in that time period) bolt in to the ignition assembly on a CRX?
2) Can I take a ignition switch from any year CRX or do I have to find one for a 1988 CRX?

if u go to the dealer and ask for an ignition switch they are NOT going to get you the piece where the key goes.
the ignition switch is a switch at the back of where the key goes.

The key part, is called the key tumbler or key cylinder..
To replace it you need to depress a little pin w/ the key in a certain position.. I'll post the instructions..

you will also need new keys, not sure if they come with it or not, but i would think they do.

you can also get your new cylinder keyed to your old keys so you don't need to have 2 diffrent keys

Yeah is not hard to transfer over the wafers into the new lock. Only thing is if youre using a screwdriver to start the car now, chances are the wafers are destroyed.
