what the hell happened
my car started knocking all of a sudden one day, it sounded like it ws coming around my ps pump(was actually coming from s/c pulley area), then the noise all of a sudden went away for about a week. it showed up again right before i was gonna make my trip home from colorado to phoenix (about 750 miles). half way thru the drive i shreaded a belt(supercharger). i went to go replace the belt today, and found this. obviously this is what caused the belt to shread.
this is a picture of my idle pulley for the supercharger
the bearing is completly distroyed

this one is to give an idea of how crooked the pulley was

i dont think it was poor installation, i took my time doing it. and its never shreaded a belt in over 10,000 miles. i will contact vortech tomorrow. the kit is still under warranty, so it should be fine.
+ this was just the idler pulley. i was thinkin maybe i had it too tight, but i dont know

maybe a bad bearing too, but tight belts = hot bearings</TD></TR></TABLE>
i dont think that rule applys to supercharger belts. in the manual it told me to tighten the tensioner till there was no belt slip in high rpms, if i would have had it at 1/4 belt deflection the belt would have slipped at high rpms.
but i agree, i do think maybe the bearing got too hot

yeah, should have been allright then
normally as long as theres some flex it should be fine.
i blame it on the idler, doesnt look like there was too much of a dust shield on there. hard too tell b/c its all torn up
pulley being off balance or belt allighnment arent really too important at all, unless they were way off which im assuming they werent
