Default Weird Idle??? I need some help.

So I started my car up today. I dont know if it matters but its a d15vtec. And when idles it will go to 2k the drop to 1.5k then go up to 2 and back down. Normally it stops as soon as I start driving. But this time when i started driving it did the same thing and started lurching. Someone told me it was a map sensor. But i have no idea what that is. But if anyone could help me that would be fawsome.

check all of your vacuum and make sure it's still snug/connected. your map might be on your throttle body or it's a stand alone unit. follow the vacuum lines coming off your charcoal canister and they should lead to firewall, top of throttle body and map sensor.

I had a similar problem and it ended up being a messed up IAC valve. the one that came with my b18 was causing the idle to go up and down constantly like you describe. When we unplugged the IACV, the idle continued to go up and down, but much faster. Replaced with the old unit off my d16a6 intake after a good cleaning, and it works fine now.
(just so you know, coolant will be leaking out when you remove the IACV. Be prepared.)
