Default CTR intake cam on stock B18C1...is it possible to use?????

Just wanted to know if it was possible to drop a CTR intake cam on a stock B18C1 and run it using my stock GSR exhaust cam? A deal was gonna go thru for some CTR cams, but the guy backed out so I'm considering just buying the CTR intake cam from JHPUSA.com. Would I have to upgrade the valvesprings? Would I actually gain anything from it or will I just be messing up my motor?

I've heard of people using this set up, just never been able to talk to someone who has owned it before to get feedback on it.

Anyone, chime in!

Possible? Yes. Do you hafta change the valvetrain? As long as you're not revving past stock, no.

Why not get the matching ITR/CTR exhaust cam? GSR cams arent too bad but if ur upgrading then do it fully.

It's a nice setup if you get it tuned slightly

did you end up doing this mod? I'm thinking about it myself, the intake cam only. I'd do both, but personally i'd be worried about putting the exhaust cam in with only the gsr single exhaust springs. So then i'd be in for spring swapping and expensive specialty tools and a lot of hassle. Thats my reasoning.

I think the consesus around here is about an 8hp gain with the intake cam only, tuned.

I have a ctr intake cam in my basically stock gsr.... and with the stock ecu, you won't really notice any difference. Getting your motor tuned is key in all situations!

your frends may be having advanced wear and they won't even know it unless they take the valve train apart and measure tolerances.

In all my itr cam research, i found only one guy who actually did this and he found that all his exhaust valves had slight bends in them (8200 redline). that stayed in my head as perhaps important.

I had my GSR tuned to 168/123 with VTEC at 5800, redline at 8200rpm with stock valve train. Next step is to upgrade to a better valve train with bigger cams, but this combination pulls nice.

yeah, im running into the same situation here. got a b18c1 just got a valve job done and new seals. wanted to go with badder cams. later on i wish to turbo possibility of a year or 2. i got s200 as well. s2 pro IM and TB, exhaust header intake, but stock bottom end and stock valvetrain. dunno if it would be better to go with both ctr intake and exhaust cams, just the ctr intake cam, or with the skunk 2 stage 2 cams. i do not plan on reving past 8k as i do not wish to f up my valves, if i got both ctr cams would it eliminate the slight bending of the valves or no chance? please anyone with helpful information, i need this back on the road in 3 weeks. fully taken apart due to an accident back in nov. lol i got massive amount of pics ill post up when finished. fixed in my garage. thanks a lot guys.

edit: well with the s2 stage 2 cams i would need to upgrade the valvetrain so im looking more at the ctr's. as some rice burner flys past my window. lol

forget it. i said b4 ima just upgrade all at once. f dis
