Default looking for a small 4 channel amp...

anyone have a recommendation for a good 4 channel amp that will power my front and rear speakers? 5.25" Infinity kappas in the rear and i plan on some Infinity kappa perfect components in the future for the front. So the amp needs to have decent power. I want a small amp because i dont have much room anywhere in my hatch. The rear is taken up with my sub+box+huge amp already, so i was looking at an amp to put under my passenger seat maybe.

check the dimensions on a kicker zx350.4 it is 40x4rms. dont bother with the perfect component set there are far better things out there for about the same price. I had one before and it was mediocre at best. Look into mb quart RCE-216s retails for about $300-330.

i am not sure how much i want to spend. Maybe $100 for something used. Depends on what you have. What do you have?

Whats wrong with the perfect components? I can get a really good deal, to the tune of $160 for a pair of perfect components. I get a real good deal on all of infinitys/JBLs stuff. Did you have them powered enough? JW

that is pretty nice, just about exactly what I want. Kinda wanted to spend less though, maybe find a used one. Not sure what I think about alpine amps though. Dont know much about them.

Get the mrpf250. Still compact and still decent sound.

Alpine amps tend to not make tons of power though

A descent 4ch amp for around $100 is not going to be easy to find, I have installed more then a few 300/4 under the front seats of some Honda/Acura's.

The JL amp should do the job pretty good. 94

i can get a JBL 4 channel amp that pushes 60 watts RMSx4 for $72 brand new. I think i will just get that. or maybe an infinity 111 watts RMSx4 amp for $132, but i dont think i need that much power. What do you guys think?

BTW: i get a really good discount, that is how i got those numbers

I'd go with the infinity, but even with whatever discount you get, I doubt it's truly 111rmsx4.

why do you doubt it? that is what the specs say. Is infinty bad about posting higher than actual RMS???

Because I have employee discounts and the dollar per watt there is pretty abnormal. I certainly won't knock infinity amps cause I've only heard their speakers/subs. From what I've heard -

The infinity amp does 111w per channel, though it was probably rated when one channel was in use. I doubt the power supply has enough power for 111w with 4 channels driven.

well, even if the infinity amp only pushes 80 or 90 rmsx4, that is plenty for my application. So I think I will just get that amp. Hope it fits under my seat! its dimensions are 12"x 15"x 2-11/16" (LxWxH)

According to the specs the Infinity REF7541A CEA rating is 4x111W RMS into 4 ohms @ 14.4V, 4x139W RMS into 2 ohms @ 14.4V and 2x278W RMS into 4 ohms @ 14.4V and a max draw of 85A, however the amp comes with 2x30A fuses, [60A] and recommends 8ga power cable, it sure looks like the numbers are fudged someplace.

I will say I have heard a REF7541A installed, driving Alpine SPX-177Rs, [front] and SPX-17MBs in the rear, both sets custom installed in a Civic, I must say I was impressed, lots of power and dynamic headroom, and very good SQ. 94
