Default Is This Honda Dealer Not Telling the Truth?

Hey guys, took my car into Honda East dealership outside Columbus, OH; my passenger seatbelt seized up a couple of months ago and was looking to have it replaced on warranty. After being held off for a week, they finally let me bring my car in, show to them plainly that there was a malfunction in the seatbelt (it won't retract or extend) and since Honda has a lifetime warranty on seatbelts, they agreed to fix it.

The guy there, Nate said he was placing the order for the part and appeared to fill out forms. Two weeks later he calls me and tells me that Honda stopped making the part (obviously) and that he will need to do some sort of search amongst dealerships in the US to see if they have it.

It's now been going on a month... What's the hold up?!

he's telling the truth. i worked for honda, and some colors arent available anymore.

your best bet is to disregard the service dept for a few days, go into the parts dept and talk to someone there... theyre the ones that looked up your part in the first place..... the guy you talked to is just a pencil pusher.

talk to a young guy in the parts dept....... they usually know whats up.

they'll locate a belt for you, and then you can go through service and have it installed..... even if it isnt the same color you intended on.

it's true..... but you can't warranty them if you like shoved a penny or something in the buckle. i believe they warranty the buckles and pretensioners.

never had a problem gettin mine. had both the driver side a passnegre side replaced.
my buddy who had an 89 HF got his driver side within 2 weeks as well. don't let them jerk ya around push the issue to get the belts. a warranty like that has to be honored

forget the setbelts and buy some 4 point harnesses. problem fixed. ebay has then for like 40 buck for a pair. and you can get them in any color.

About 10 years ago on my last CRX the buckle for my drivers side belt broke. Well didnt really break I notices that if I yanked kind of hard on the belt it would pop loose. I took it in to be fixed. They told me that there was nothing wrong with it that I just was not pushing it in far enough. I went and showed the tech what happens when you yank on it. He goes oh there is a recall and they needed to put some little shim on the buckle so you could only put it in straight and it would work then. After 2 weeks they get the parts and put them on. I get the car back sit down, yank the belt and out it popped. I walked right back in and told them it didnt fix it. They told me that was all they could do. I wrote them a letter telling them that if I got hurt in an accident in any way due to my seatbelt failing I was suing the crap out ot them and honda. They totally replaced my seatbelt the next day after they got the parts overnighted.

Cliffnotes: Tell them it is a safty issue and if you get hurt they get sued.

Obviously this is the route I was taking, but they would respond to me "If you drove with a passenger not wearing a seatbelt, it's your fault. We didn't force you to have a passenger in a car knowingly without a seatbelt for them.

I just want my girl to be happy and safe! W/O having to rip out all my interior and go junkyard hunting

so many reasons why not to put a 4 point in a street car.. especially a $40 4 point.

i'd try going to a few different dealerships to see if they have the same problem finding the parts as honda east does. that is if you have time to drive all over columbus. theres a new honda dealership here in marysville about 12 min from dublin that has helped with anything i've asked (parts department anyway). i've yet to have any type of problems with them. shipping is sorta slow depending on the part but what do you expect from a dealership.
