i have a 1989 honda civic hatbhack dx .. the original motor was the 1.5l dual point motor.. i took the back seat up and then unscrewed the 3 screws for the silver cover.. when i uncliped the wires and desembled it .. NOw the hard part is.. i been doing research on removal and all the diagrams i seen dont look nothing like the top i have.. thier supose to be 6 10mm bolts to take off then pull up the fuel pump... well mine dont have bolts nore the fuel lines on the top? mine is just has a clip on the very top and once that is un cliped .. it looks to me to be like a ring of something holdin the pump down. is thier a way to like move the ring and break it free? someone please help me..
Well it's good that you unplugged it there....but that thing is just the sending unit.
The pump itself is towards the rear-driver's side of the tank. You have to detach the fuel lines, vent lines, and the filler neck so you can drop the tank down. There are 2 straps held on by big J bolts and you have to back those way out.
You can access the pump once the tank is near the ground. That's when you get the 10mm bolts the hold the cover on.
