Avid EK motor mount fitment issues...any advise??
I just bought the Avid Ek B series billet motor mounts frrm Spoolinperformance (project DC2) and I started intalling them today and have had a lot of fitment issues so far. If anyone has ever dealt with these mounts and has any advise I would appreciate any help. ThankS!!!
BTW: The car is a 96 Civic Ex, with a JDM B18c. Previous mounts were the OEM with energy suspension poly inserts.
Driver mount is sitting crooked and was missing 1 bolt

Tranny mount wouldn't line up with frame rail and with the Trans stud length there is no way that the mount will ever bolt down. It also did not sit flush on the Trans.

Thanks again for all comments for advise!!

I've had this problem with the EF b-series mount kit.
Poor fitment quality.
Good tip is leaving all the mounts loose. Once they are all lined up tighten them all up

Yeah, I should have gotten the hasports....serves me right for trying to save a couple bucks cause I could have gotten the hasports for $350..
I tried leaving them loose and they still wouldn't line up...also the mounts are too tall for the trans mount studs. so far Im thinking Avid is

I too have had a problem with AVID, or so I was told it was a AVID mount, Hydro to cable conversion...It ended up not letting **** line up. We ended up getting a HASport mount and that **** went together super easy.
Yea this mount would not even sit flush on the trans

What sucks is that it looks like the retailer that I bought them from Spoolinperformance.com is acting like hes not going to help me out on this. I am still talkin to him but I think he's trying to make me deal with the manufacturer.

I hope not....I'll have to check that out.
It seems like with the bolt offset etc, if the mount was upside down it wouldn't fit at all....

Looks like if you turn it over it will line up and change the angles all the way around. My avids fit fine. They did send bolts that were too short for the rear mount.
I showed the pics to the retailer and he sent me out a set off billet innovative mounts. I am going to install them tomorrow and I will have pics/ results up tomorrow! thanks
Hey Mike, how you liking the B18C?
I wanted to ask you about any hangups you had with the swap other than the poor Avid mount quality. Any tips on emissions, what ecu you're running, ac or power steering bracket problems, etc... I'm about to do exactly that same swap in a 97 EX.
Thanks bro, and I'm envious~
have fun,

First off....The motor was already in the car prior to installing the mounts. But I will say that if you put anything with more than 150whp in a EK body your weak driver mount is going to fall apart like mine did.
Emissions can be a bit of a problem in california especially....you just have to know the right people
I was running a OBD 2 JDM ITR ecu for a while after I swapped the motor, But when I started modding the motor I decided to go with a Crome tuned OBD I P28 Ecu. That seems to work really well, you just need a Jumper harness for like $60 and a socketed P28 Ecu.
For A/C you will have to get the P7J or P54 A/C bracket and you can use all your OE single cam A/C stuff. I don't run power steering so I can't tell you anything about that but I think that the pump will bolt right up to a stock DOHC bracket that should come with your motor.
As far as the car with the motor I really like it, It's comfortable...seems fairly roomy for a civic (I'm 6'3) and it runs pretty hard and is very reliable.
Good luck with your Swap...feel free to ask me if you ahve any questions.

i agree im pretty damn sureits upside down, but its too late

It's not upside down guys.....Think about the offset of the bolts. If you turned the mount around, the bolt holes would not line up. In addition the new innovative mount sits the exact same way and it fits perfect.
You know, I searched the innovative website to compare prices and noticed they have two different mount packages for the B-series into the EKs. One looks like it has 3 mounts, the other says it's the driver side mount only. I thought there were 5 mounts total... what am I missing here?
The mount kit's dont come with the two lower mounts that help with the motor rocking (I think because once you switch to aftermarket mounts those really don't do much. The only kit I have ever seen that comes with 5 is mugen.
If you want to save money you can resuse your stock 4 mounts (All but the driver side mount) and use the energy suspension inserts for like 20 or 30 bucks and only replace the driver side mount. That is apparently the weakness of all the EK mounts.
I bought the 3 piece kits. (Driver, tranny, rear mounts)
