Default anyone care to take a guess?? hitting a rev limiter that shouldnt be there

alrighty.. so i take my car to the track here and make one run ok.. the next run my car (EG hatch.. obd1 ls vtec )mysteriously develops a rev limiter at 6500 rpms... curious since there isnt one programmed in the chip that is currently in the car. so.. the car throws a code 22 which is Vtec pressure valve... could this mysterious valve cause the fuax rev limiter affect? and if so where the hell is this valve..??

thanks all

oh and i searched.. nothng really answered my question

when is vtec supposed to engage? if its at 6500 then i could see that being the problem. have you ran the motor hard before then? if you haven't tested it before you could have an inadequate oil supply for the vtec

vtec comes on at ~5200 or maybe 5100 which i believe is stock.. ive ran the motor hard before and its done ok.... Vtec engages... but once it hits that magic 6500 its like spark/fuel cuts

umm......well.....does the motor stilll go into vtec?.....if so, then it could be that your tach is off for some reason now..i had that happen to me once.....it's really weird......anyways...does the motor still FEEL like it's winding out right.....??? if not, then i'd check into the code 22 more.....
