Default b18 is this true

someone told me that if the timing belt on an ls breaks it wonts bend the valves or anything because it has low compression is this true

weird i snapped a timing belt on a b16 a couple day ago bent nothing I even tried to bump the car off down a hill twice LOL

Nope, it's still an interference engine. The valves are still going to hit the pistons.

Same thing happened with my 88 dx hatch belt snapped bent nothing. However when is the key I was stopped at a red light and the car died

yep i was rolling in gear car died I pushed in the clutch rolled to stop light cranked twice rolled right down hill let out clutch nothing turned in drive way popped hood looked at belt........haha my car came from CT and the wires in the belt were rusty lol cause the upper timing cover was missing i ordered all new covers from honda i love it

i got a motor before that the belt broke and the motor was still good. dood gave it to me for free cause he ssid the mtor was fu cked. so i put another timing belt on there and di a leak down and it was 7% all across. then i dropped it in my car and it runs like a champ

Like the other poster refered to, the integra has an interference motor.Meaning if the belt brakes,all hell breaks loose inside the motor.Valves and pistons will get up close and personal to each other, and that aint good.

That someone that told you this was thinking about non-interference motors.Ford for example, alot of there cars are non interference.I guess thats where they get there ford tough(excluding trannys ) thing from.A friend of mine had a 99 zx2 and he raped the hell outa that car.He would ping the hell outta that motor and never understood why he never bent a valve.Then i learned of non interference motors.Even if the motor over revs the valves and pistons will not meet.I still dont like fords though .
