Default just to be on the safe side

a couple things... #1 i changed my oil with 10w-30 but on the filler cap it says 5w-30, i didnt really check that before i got the oil but is that gonna be a big deal or am i good? i live on the pacific coast so im not sure how that fits into it all... i mean the weather and what not

also, i posted a few days ago about taking out the intake tube on my 98 civic ex. i finally got it off but i had to take the bumper off and stuff... i was wondering what purpose the resonator serves? cause i was looking at it, it just looks like an empty box. anyways, i took that out. to be honest im not even sure it was the resonator... im not exactly sure about all that stuff, im a serious noob. but yeah... it was here:

under the headlight, behind the bumper kinda sitting on top of the well liner.

as far as i could tell it was a big empty box, so i took that out before i cut the intake tube.

1. filter cap doesn't matter
2. I'm not sure what you mean by the whole intake issue
- was it stock
- can u get a picture
- do you just have a tube going to throttle body "if so don't drive ur car"

please tell me you didn't cut that box off

The big box behind the bumper is the resonator.

It quiets down the intake noise.

no no no the housing is still there... im not that noob. i dont know where you got that pic from but if it's yours you know what im talking about... the tube that goes into the housing attached to the bottom... how it goes down and then goes back up so the intake opening is right next to the housing... yes it's stock btw. i just cut that down near the bottom of the curve and im just wondering about the box thing it was attached to... it's like literally in the bumper... i should've taken a pic when i did it, my bad, but like... it's in the bumper directly below the headlight in the front of the well. it was attached to the intake tube.

care to define a resonator for me? that might make it easier

It's fine. Just more annoying when you floor it.
