Default Need help....

03 RSX base AT

I have an issue with the car sitting and the battery dieing after 1-3 days of no use. Dealer claims Alarm is pulling to much current. Fought with dealer over this and they pulled the alarm and claimed to find a faulty fuse custer or some bull ****. Anyway they claim the replaced the part and draw still there. THey say its pulling 250 MilliAmps. I need to try and locate the specs for a DEI hornet 553 remote start/keyless entry car alram for the current draw and also I need specs of Stock current draw for the car. The dealer is paying to have the alarm porfessionaly removed and then going to retest everything but I dont trust this dealer at all. Likly to clam problem went away when the alram is removed even if the problem is still present. I need all the help I can get.

Think it could be a problem with the battery?

Well, seems unlikely to me too.

First give the dealer the benefit of the doubt. If there's still a problem, get a voltometer and have fun with testing all the wires one by one

Have you modified the car at all electronically other than the alarm?

98% sure it isn't the battery. The original battery that came with hte car when purchased in June of 03 died January of 2005. That battery was then replaced in October of 2005. The car is just eatting through them. Dealer never finds anything wrong if car is jumped and brought in...only says something is wrong if towed (dealer in VA and AZ both are the same way).

Only mods electronically are the alarm/remote start and the radio if you want to count that for any reason (only a new head unit). However, this has been going on LONG before the radio was ever installed.

Of course the first guy my wife talked to said there was a 10 Amp draw and now the service manager says 250 milliamp...not sure HOW you go from 10 to 1/4 of 1...

The good news is it is insured - setting fire to it is starting to look good....

Wife called the dealer this AM to ask what part was actually replaced...the service guy told her he would call her back because he knew she was talking to the Service manager and that he needed to check with the Service Manager. Sounds shady since the guy she was talking to is the one that is supposed to be calling her back when her car is back in one piece.

Part replaced is: Underdash Multi-Plex Fuse Unit Part #38200-S6MA11

According to friend in car alarm business if anything from the alarm was pluged into this and draining the power it would be OBVIOUS such as radio staying on or lights staying on....
