Default tach way off

i did my gsr swap about a year ago, and my tach is about 500rpm off i'm at 8200, it reads 8700, it never bothered me much, i just compensate. but a buddy of mine just bought a eg coupe with a b16, and that tach is WAY off, when its at 8200, it reads just under 7000, i expected it to be off since mine is, but why is it SO FAR off, and in the opposite direction as mine, how do you fix this? or do you just live with it? anyone else have this?

My off too. The only way to find out your true rpm is with a autometer rpm or just a autometer **** lite.

you may have to take the cluster off, open it, and tweek the cluster because I once swapped speedometer plates (with odometer connected) from one cluster to another and my old one ended up saying i was going 20mph at startup, idle. Maybe it's similar... I never fixed mine so I would'nt know how to fix it but maybe it's a start for you.
