hi, guys i need your help. i have a loud rapid clicking noise when i am at 4th and 5th gear at high way speeds (sometimes at hard acceleration) i thought it was my axle so i replaced it. i still have the noise. i recently had a new clutch and fly wheel reserfaced put in so i am not sure what it is?? could it be valve lash? could it be the clutch?
i have a warranty on the clutch but i dont feel like going back to that shop. any suggestions??

any relation to the noise and RPM? will help in whether it is valve lash or possibly something else. how many miles on the motor?

 

cool, thanks....yeah its seems it happens at a higher RPM...not to high though....it starts around 4k.....motor has 88k

 

i think if it was valve lash it would happen in all gears. Is it only higher RPM's in 4th and 5th gear? if so try replacing the tranny fluid with something clean and check the fluid for metal shavings or something, it could just be a gear problem,.

 

Detonation? What fuel octane rating are you using?

 

wow, thanks for the replys...i'll look into all of the above.....i put in Premium....i just got off the phone with the clutch shop....im gonna take it in for the "warranty" work....we'll see how much weight this warranty holds....i'll try dranning it if they dont help me....
